About these prices
Cheapest Fill publishes the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s weekly retail fuel prices in a form that is easy to scan, compare and chart.
Where the numbers come from
All prices are from the EIA’s Gasoline and Diesel Fuel Update, retrieved through the EIA’s open data API. The gasoline figures shown are for “all formulations” of each grade, in U.S. dollars per gallon, as published. We do not alter EIA’s values.
What we calculate
Week-over-week and year-over-year changes, percentages, rankings among tracked areas, 52-week highs and lows, and the comparison to the U.S. average are calculated by Cheapest Fill from EIA’s published figures. We label these as calculated wherever they appear. The EIA has not reviewed or approved our calculations.
What we do not have
The EIA publishes averages for the U.S., five regional groupings (and sub-regions), nine states, and ten metro areas. It does not publish prices for individual stations, ZIP codes, or the other 41 states, and neither do we. Diesel is published for the U.S., its regions and California only.
How often it updates
The EIA publishes new figures weekly. This site checks for them every six hours. The most recent data in this version of the site is for the week of October 19, 2026.
Corrections and contact
If a figure here does not match EIA’s published value for the same week, tell us at hello@cheapestfill.beer and we will check it against the source and fix it. EIA may revise its own figures after publication, and when it does the next refresh here follows it.
Independence
Cheapest Fill is an independent website. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the EIA, the U.S. Department of Energy, or any government agency. The EIA name is used only to identify the source of the data. We do not use the EIA logo.
